Who We Are

Our Mission

The Summit Planting Initiative exists to glorify God through planting and supporting like-minded churches around the world. We seek to plant churches with indigenous pastors who are excited about growing God’s Kingdom in their home countries. We are also passionate about partnering individuals or churches with Planted Churches to support them by prayer, finances, and/or hands-on assistance.

In adhering strongly and unapologetically to the adopted Doctrine of the Summit Planting Initiative, we also declare six Core Values as the biblical priorities for all ministries run within the organization.

In humility and honor, we:

1.     Preach Boldly

a.     … proclaiming the truth of God clearly and practically

b.     Nehemiah 8:8 “They read from the book … clearly … and they gave the sense”

2.     Worship Authentically

a.     … celebrating the person of God passionately and completely

b.     John 4:24 “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth”

3.     Pray Dependently

a.     … approaching the presence of God fervently and expectantly.

b.     1 John 5:14 “This is the confidence we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us”

4.     Witness Courageously

a.     … sharing the gospel of God wisely and respectfully

b.     1 Peter 3:15 “be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you … with gentleness and respect”

5.     Gather Purposefully

a.     … engaging the people of God transparently and hopefully

b.     Hebrews 10:19-25 “…let us draw near … let us hold fast … let us consider how to stir one another up”

6.     Plant Strategically

a.     … building the church of God locally and internationally

b.     Acts 14:21-23 “Preached the gospel to that city … strengthened souls … appointed elders … prayed”

Our Story

Beginnings in Haiti

Fully dedicated to God’s ministry in his home country, Pastor Abraham ran an orphanage of 50+ kids, a school of 1400+ kids, and a small church. This passion for the ministry of Abraham’s church and the fervor for God-glorifying ministry in Haiti began to be shared among churches in North America. In connecting Pastor Abraham with Hope Bible Church Markham and Summit Point Church in Peoria, a partnership was soon formed to support and grow God’s Kingdom in Haiti.

Later in 2013, Pastor Abraham went through pastoral training in Elgin, Illinois and became formally partnered with Summit Point Church. In the following year, on April 6, 2014, they launched as Harvest Bible Chapel Jacmel, with over 1400 people in attendance for launch Sunday.

Since the launch of Harvest Jacmel, God continued to grow this ministry. The people in Haiti showed a hunger for God’s word that would soon begin to spread throughout the whole of the nation. Since then, Haiti has seen the launch of six more church plants and the establishment of the Harvest Training Center (HTC) program. The mission of the HTC is to train and walk alongside indigenous pastors in a rigorous program, enabling them to effectively lead and launch their own churches.

The Summit Planting Initiative

In 2020, the vision for an organization that would support indigenous pastors to plant God-glorifying and life-giving churches grew. With a fervor for strengthening and supporting the growth of God’s Kingdom throughout the world, the purpose of the Summit Planting Initiative is to be prepared for wherever God calls His next churches to be planted.

The Summit Planting Initiative is fully staffed by volunteers from Summit Point Church, so 100% of all donations go toward the ministries and various initiatives of the organization.

There are always opportunities for individuals and churches to join us in Partnership and/or to give financially to cover the needs of the ministries in the Planted Churches.
